Summer is Here

Well, the weather has definitely turned hot and we are spending shorts periods of time outdoors.  Garrett loves being outside, so to keep him cool, we've set up a little kiddie pool on the driveway.  If it gets any hotter, I might have to jump in there too.  Oh, yeah, he loves to mow the lawn.  I wonder if he still will when he is 10.

I've been keeping very busy with all of my projects.  I have been sewing a lot, testing patterns,  and think I finally might be ready to add a couple new items to my Sew Many Ruffles Etsy shop.  Last week, I added these cute little bow holders, bows, and felt clippies.

I had at first thought that I would have seperate blogs for my sewing, scrapbooking, stamping, card making, and family life, but I have quickly realized that I just can't keep up with content for all of them, so I am combining everything in my main blog that I want to share and hope that it appeals to everyone.  So I think that I will be changing the look of my blog.  I just love the picture that I have on my header but I just it's time to retire it.  I don't have any ideas right now but things will be changing.

I'll leave you with a look at my card for May's card kit for Scrapbook Mania.  Unfortunately, this is the last month that we will be releasing a card kit but after 2 plus years, it's time to do something new.  :)

Upcoming Paper Crafting Card Class featuring Simple Stories Summer Fresh

I just wanted to share with my local scrapbooking friends about a cards class that I am teaching this Saturday, June 23rd at 1:00p.m. in Birmingham, Alabama.  Actually if you are not in my area, a kit is always available. Just email me and I will get you more information.

We will be using Simple Stories newest line Summer Fresh.Here is one of the six cards that we will be making during the class time.  I might even do a couple extra with you if we have time. But be assured that you will have plenty of supplies left over to make a dozen or more so please let me know if you are interested in attending my class.  My class is part of a Summer Scrap Camp hosted by My Scrapbook Mania.  You can get all of the details by emailing India Davis.

June Card Kit featuring Amy from Whimsy Stamps

Each month I put together a card kit featuring adorable stamps that are fun and easy to color with Copic Markers.  Here is a picture of June's card kit.  You will receive all that you need to make this card in your kit, including the stamp, a 6x6 paper pad and embellishments.  This month our stamp is Amy from Whimsy Stamps and the paper pad is Double Dutch from LilyBee Designs.

You will also receive all of the coloring instructions, the name of the markers and where I put the colors, and a full color copy of this picture and a closeup of the image.  If you would like to be part of this kit club please email India at the Scrapbook Mania Marketplace.  Of course if you have any questions about the card kit or subscribing you can always contact me via email too.

I want to share with you a card that I created for the December Card Kit for Scrapbook Mania.  This was a special kit which included two Magnolia images.  For the card, I masked the two images together and then colored them.  These two stamps put together made a very LARGE focal image so I made this into an easel card so that I add some embellishments to the bottom.

October's Card Kit for Scrapbook Mania

Each month at Scrapbook Mania I release a card kit.  Each kit contains a stamp, materials to make two cards and instructions.  This month we used a Magnolia stamp called Tilda on the Loose.  My favorite part of this stamp is her hat with the little rose.  So sweet.  The paper are from American Craft's City Park line.

I had a little fun this past weekend.  We headed over to Sky Valley, Georgia to spend a couple days in the mountains.  I had fun doing a little antique shopping and spending time with family.  We also made a stop at Dry Falls which is actually in North Carolina.  Lexi had been there before but didn't remember it.  Brett had a lot of fun seeing it for the first time.  

It was really great getting away and relaxing a little.  I hope we can go again soon.

Got Sketch #102

Valerie has a new sketch on her Got Sketch blog today.  It's a fabulous sketch.  One thing that I noticed first off about this sketch is that you don't have to use a lot of paper, which is great on the scrapbooking budget. On this layout I used only three pieces of double sided paper and the sticker sheet.  They are from the new Fancy Pants line, Like Father, Like Son, which I love.  

Does this look like an 11 year old boy to you?  Of course not, but I just can't believe he was this little once and that the time has flown by so quickly.  Luckily for me, he is still just as sweet and will always be My Little Man.

What a Wonderful Scrappy Day

I had so much scrappy fun today as Susan Mintmire from Paper Crafter's Corner and I traveled to the scrapbook stores in Birmingham, Alabama, Scrapbook Mania and Scrapbook Princess and then stopped by and observed a Oh My Crafts Bus tour class.  I saw some fabulous friends along the way as well as meeting some new ones.  There's not too many days that I can say that I had a totally scrappy day but today was certainly one of them.  Be sure to stop by Paper Crafter's Corner to hear more from Susan but be sure to also check out her Graphic 45 survey and giveaway. 

Here is another one of my $5 layouts that I do for Scrapbook Mania one Tuesday a month.  Love the new Max and Whiskers paper.  This picture actually does not come close to doing it justice.  Our next $5 layout class will be in June so be looking on the Scrapbook Mania site for updates on it.   I will also be teaching the Max and Whiskers Basic Grey Card Kit class soon so please stay tuned for that information as well.

My Blog Candy Winner

I want to thank all those who left a comment on my last post.  I received a few tips but would always love more so please feel free to leave a link or tip on using distress inks to color anytime.  I would like to announce that Hazel Q won my blog candy.  Please send me your address and I will get you your fun package full of card making supplies.

This is a layout that I made for my $5 layout class at Scrapbook Mania.  One Tuesday a month I have 3 layout packages, all cut and ready to go, for $5 each and you can decide which ones you would like to create. You can stay and put them together or take them to go.  Just be sure to register for the class so that I have enough page kits ready for everyone.  It's usually a pretty quick and easy layout to put together but will also have lots of opportunities for individualization and embellishments.  I will be finishing my final touches on this one soon but a special feature of this layout is the canvas flowers that I cut out with a Tim Holtz die and inked with Glitz background stamps.  So amazing!

 

Isn't the Laundry Line by Little Yellow Bicycle just divine.  I love it's soft and pretty prints.  There is still some left at Scrapbook Mania so stop by soon to pick it up before it's gone.
