Simon Says Stamp Challenge Day- Love is in the Air

Valentine's Day is just around the corner so be sure to get an early start on your cards to your loved ones.  This week, on the Simon Says Stamps Challenge blog, we are going to give you the perfect excuse to get your stamps and ink out and get those Valentine's card done.  

How would you like to win a $50 voucher to the Simon Says Stamp Superstore?  Well one lucky person will this week.  All you have to do is take our challenge, create a card with the theme Love Is In the Air, post it on your blog or online photo gallery and then link it up on the challenge blog.

There is a Card Sketch Challenge going on over at the Bo Bunny blog and you're invited.  This wonderful sketch was created by Patti and if you head over to the blog you can see her card and a few more made by the Bo Bunny Design Team.  There is a link to show us your if you decide to play along.

I really wanted my card to reflect the sentiment on the outside so I used just a few embellishments and paper.  The colors in the Peacock Lane line are splendid and I was very happy with how it turned out.

Bo Bunny Layout Challenge

Do you love challenges?  I do.  Something about a challenge just gets me going.  Well Bo Bunny has a layout challenge that they issued today.  It is an amazing sketch and I had so much fun working with it.

Got Sketch #100

Got Sketch is back and this week is the 100th sketch posted on the blog.  That is a lot of sketches and inspiration.  I was thrilled to be asked to contribute again this week.  Here is my layout.  I broke out some older pictures of my daughter and hubby for this layout.  

 

 

This sketch is amazing and so easy to create with.  Be sure to check out the Got Sketch blog to see more great layouts using sketch #100.  Valerie has also brought the Got Sketch Double Layout class back in download form.  This is an amazing class and resource if you love double page layouts.

I also used some of my favorite new paper  and embellishments from Bo Bunny.  This line is called Petal Pushers and it is full of great patterns and beautiful flower embellishments.  If you haven't tried working their new chipboard shapes you are missing out.  They are amazing and give such detail and depth to your layout.  

 

Lots of fun things going on this week plus I am starting to get ready for our annual trip to Florida to see family and friends.  While I am home in Sarasota, Florida, I will be teaching a brand new mini book class at the K2 Scrapbooking store, July 10th.  If you are in the area we would love for you to join us.  We will be getting messy with Glimmer Mist, stamps, Utee, ink and much more.  I will be back with a sneak peak later on in the week.

It's Wedding Season

It's wedding season so I am sure that you'll be needing a wedding card or two.  Bo Bunny's designers have come up with a few beautiful card ideas for you in case you need some inspiration.  Since Bo Bunny does not a specific wedding line, we all had to create a card using other themed papers and I love how they all turned out.  Just shows how versatile Bo Bunny paper can be.

Here is my card.  I think that this would be a perfect card for those couples who are having beach weddings. Now check out the Bo Bunny blog to see what the other designers created.

I love challenges.  They really get the teeny tiny competitive part of me going and always gets my creative juices flowing.  I know there are a lot of other people feel that way too.  So I am going to invite you join in a challenge with me each week.  You probably won't see this in time to enter this particular challenge as the deadline is tonight at midnight but you will be ready to play along with me on the next challenge that they post on Wednesdays.  Hey, there's a great prize at stake too. :)

Simon Says Stamp is a fantastic online store that stocks everything stamping and a whole lot more.  They have all of the hottest stamps, such as Magnolia, Hero Arts, C.C. Designs, Whiff of Joy, Unity, The Greeting Farm and a whole lot more.  Each week they have a challenge posted on their special challenge team blog.

This week's challenge was a fun and easy one.  All you had to do was make a masculine card or have a masculine character on the card.  So I grabbed an Edwin stamp from Magnolia and my Bo Bunny Roughin' It collection and had a blast.  

 

Isn't he just the cutest?  I so enjoyed using all of those bright colors because if I am coloring a female character which I do more often than not, I tend to use pinks, yellow or softer tones of blue.  

So for the next challenge on Simon Says Stamp challenge blog I hope to see some familiar faces.  You never know, you might just win and of course if you don't, you'll have a great new card.  
 

Father's Day Card and a Special Toot

Father's Day will be here before you know it so don't delay and get your cards made today.  Here is an example of a card that I made for Father's Day that might get you started. I used Dan, Dan, the Record Man line from Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker.  It's a fun and very unique line that is perfect for masculine cards.  One thing you might not know is that a couple of the elements, such as the arrow, and the record, are cutouts.  There is a whole page filled with them to go with the paper line.  They are so easy to use.  A few pop dots and you've made a great card!

Now onto my special toot!!  I've been waiting and waiting, since January I think, to announce that one of my cards is featured in the June 2010 Cards Magazine by Northridge Media.  I got a peek at it today at Hobby Lobby and I was thrilled with the 2 page spread.  

Here is the card that I created.  I used Flutter Butter by Bo Bunny.  The soft spring colors of this line was perfect for this butterfly themed cards.  The focus of the card was on using Alphabets.  You know you have a drawer full of alphabets that may have one or two of the letters.

 

I just started filling a white sheet of paper with the letters and then cut off the excess that I didn't need.  Another twist on this same technique would be to adhere the letters, spray paper with colored or sparkly mist, or dab with ink or chalk and then peel the letters off carefully.  It would make a very cool masking technique.

My picture above isn't half as nice as the one in the June 2010 Cards Magazine so if you have a chance to pick it up, I believe it is on page 51 and 52.

Bo Bunny Blop Hop Winner

I want to thank everyone for all the wonderful comments that were left for the Bo Bunny blog hop.  I always have so much fun reading your responses.  It seems as if most people like to do some kind of outdoor activities and would be able to use the Roughin' It line by Bo Bunny in their scrapbook layouts.  So the randomly picked winner of the blog candy is number 51

I love the roughin it line - it was my favorite from that release. I grew up camping at every opportunity my family could find. We camped and hiked our summers all over Western Canada and NW USA. The memories I have are the best and I can not wait to share similar memories with my own young family.

Now on to a new card for today.  If you haven't tried a Just Rite Stamp before you really should.  They are awesome, fun to use stamps that have customizable features to them.  They come with outer rings and inner rings and those can be mixed and matched.  I have quite a few Just Rite Stampers sets.  They come in ovals, circles, squares, and now rectangular shapes.

For this card I stamped my image, colored it in with my Copic Markers and then cut it out using my Spellbinders dies.

Bo Bunny's June Blog Hop

It's time again for the Bo Bunny blog hop and I am so glad that you hopped on by.  We have a brand new guest designer with us this month and when you complete the hop you will find out who she is.  Let me give you a little hint to see if you can guess her name before the end.

I really loved using Roughin It! on this layout.  Those chipboard stickers are awesome.  Can you see the fantastic detail and dimension that they give?  

I also had a fantastic time altering the Bo Bunny alpha chipboard.  I learned this little trick from one of the other girls on the team.  I used my Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder to create the texture.  You ink the texture side of the folder with your favorite color and then put the chipboard letters in the folder and run it through your die cut machine.  The ink will transfer to the letters and the texture will be embossed onto the chipboard letters.

Nikki Sivils and Bo Bunny projects

I've got two things to tell you about today.  First off I created a mini book and a card for the Nikki Sivils blog.  The mini book is going to be a graduation gift for my son who will be going on to middle school next year.  I know that he will enjoy having it to look back at in later years.  To see the whole album be sure to stop by the Nikki Sivils blog.

 

I also made a card using the Will He B the 1 line.  Love the stamp set that coordinates with the line.

 

I also completed another video for the Bo Bunny blog.  I created some jewelry charms with the rub-ons from the Sophie and Jazmyne lines.
