Father's Day will be here before you know it so don't delay and get your cards made today. Here is an example of a card that I made for Father's Day that might get you started. I used Dan, Dan, the Record Man line from Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker. It's a fun and very unique line that is perfect for masculine cards. One thing you might not know is that a couple of the elements, such as the arrow, and the record, are cutouts. There is a whole page filled with them to go with the paper line. They are so easy to use. A few pop dots and you've made a great card!
Now onto my special toot!! I've been waiting and waiting, since January I think, to announce that one of my cards is featured in the June 2010 Cards Magazine by Northridge Media. I got a peek at it today at Hobby Lobby and I was thrilled with the 2 page spread.
Here is the card that I created. I used Flutter Butter by Bo Bunny. The soft spring colors of this line was perfect for this butterfly themed cards. The focus of the card was on using Alphabets. You know you have a drawer full of alphabets that may have one or two of the letters.
I just started filling a white sheet of paper with the letters and then cut off the excess that I didn't need. Another twist on this same technique would be to adhere the letters, spray paper with colored or sparkly mist, or dab with ink or chalk and then peel the letters off carefully. It would make a very cool masking technique.
My picture above isn't half as nice as the one in the June 2010 Cards Magazine so if you have a chance to pick it up, I believe it is on page 51 and 52.
I'll have another toot is to share next week. Yeah! I have two layouts in the new upcoming Scrapbook Inspirations. Shimelle is the editor and it is a fantastic magazine. You can order it online or find it at Barnes and Nobles. Believe me this is a great magazine that you won't want to miss. As soon as it hits the stands I'll share my layouts with you.
I'm off to watch my son play baseball. Love it! I just hope that the weather won't be too stifling. Have a wonderful weekend!
