Epiphany Crafts Design Team Announcement

I am so proud to announce that I was selected to be on the Epiphany Crafts design team.  I am so excited about this new opportunity and can't wait to show you all about their products.  My term starts October 1st so I'll be busy until then working on my first projects.  Speaking of projects you should check out today's post on Epiphany Crafts blog.  They are wrapping up a blog hop with Maya Road and the mini book shown is the cutest ever.  There is also a giveaway.  Click here to go to the post.

SRM Stickers- Tiny Calendar

I've got a new project posted on the SRM Stickers blog today.  I'll give you a little sneak peek and then you can head over to the blog to see all of the details.

Button Week at Papercrafter's Corner

Today is my day on the Papercrafter's Corner blog to share with you some fun techniques using buttons!  Here is a little sneak peek at my layout.  Look at the eyes on the fish.  You will definitely want to check out the trick I used to make those.  :)

Petaloo, Core'dinations, and Sweet Stamp Shoppe Blog Hop

This week the Petaloo design team is having a blog hop with Core'dinations and the Sweet Stamp Shoppe.  Petaloo's Color Me Crazy line is dyed to match the cardstock from Core'dinations and the results are fabulous.  The theme for our hop is Back to School.  My project is a fun decoration that every teacher would love to hang in her classroom.  Stop by the Petaloo blog to check out the rest of the details.

I've used a lot of die cuts in my project.  They are all from SVG Cuts in a file called Miss Baker's Classroom.  It's a great file set and if you are into die cutting like I am you definitely need to check them out.

July's Basic Grey Class

As some of you know, I teach a class monthly using the Basic Grey retailer's kit.  We always have lots of fun and get quite a bit of scrapbooking done too.  Besides the double page layout that Basic Grey provides, I also design two more one page layouts from the "leftovers".  I've had to be quite creative some months to produce those extra layouts.  This month I tried an experiment and I think it worked out well.

First we made this layout.  It's pretty simple, a beautiful background paper and lots of pictures set up in a grid style.  Then fun embellishments with some fussy cutting and border work.

 

The second layout is where I tried something new.  I started with the red background paper.  Then I took the large circle paper and we cut out the center of it.  I believe that this center piece was used for something on the BG layout.  Then I had them score the paper and fold it back so that the back side of the patterned paper was shown.  

It was a fun way to save paper and learn a new folding technique.  If you live around the Birmingham, Alabama area and would like to get involved in this class please email me and I will get you in contact with the right people. :)

I've got three project reveals this week for my design team work.  Petaloo is having a fun school themed blog hop, SRM Stickers is showing my mini calendar idea, and Papercrafter's Corner is having "Button Week" and I've got a couple of projects being shown.  I'll post about each one when it happens.

At home we are hoping that Hurricane  Isaac does not knock too hard on our door but we are bracing for some pretty wet weather for sure. Stay safe everyone!

Lots going on and a special card

Wow, where to start!!  I haven't really been blogging in awhile but I have had a lot of crafty things going on behind the scenes.  I've been busy designing projects for my design teams and a bunch of upcoming classes.  Unfortunately nothing that I can really share right now.  Besides that I've been making some fun changes to my scrapbook room.  A destash is necessary and it's been a tedious process reorganizing and parting with some well loved supplies.  I really didn't realize how attached I am to some papers.  I literally have papers that I bought 7 and 8 years ago.  I loved them then and I love them now, I just don't have the time to use it all. but it's so hard to part with it.  So there is a big yardsale coming up at my LSS and I am busy packing things up to sell.  I also plan on posting a little bit of it here and there.

Today what I really wanted to tell you about is this beautiful card that you see here.  I did not make it.  Actually I recieved it for my birthday from a good friend,which was about a week ago.  It's so pretty.  There is such beautiful texture on the background and layers upon layers of stamping.

She and I share a love of Papertrey Ink and this card is pure PTI!  It's not very often that she shares her work on her blog and she mentioned that she never took a picture of this card so I decided to share it with you for her today.  Even the inside was stamped beautifully!  Thanks Donna!  I love it!  Here is a link to her blog if you want to see more of her work.

I wil be back soon with a brand new project that I created for Petaloo.  There is a school themed blog hop going on at the Petaloo blog.  We are co-hosting it with Core'dinations and Sweet Stamp Shop and there are giveaways.  I can't wait to share what I made.

SRM Stickers and Lawn Fawn

The countdown to the first day of school has begun in my house.  We went and registered my 8th grader today and he is all ready to go August 20th.  My daughter is starting her second year of college on the same day and she is looking forward to this year too.  Garrett is not going to school but we may try a little Mom's Day Out program to get him used to being around other kids.  Well, on to the reason you are here.  I've got a little card to show you today  :)

We've got a fun co-feature with Lawn Fawn stamps on the SRM Stickers blog today.  It's day 2 and the first days projects were gorgeous!!  I used the stamp set Sunny Skies by Lawn Fawn and the sentiment, You Are My Sunshine, from SRM Summer Sentiments Stickers.

Other supplies that I used to make my card are patterned papers from the Hello Summer by Echo Park, Hemp by Hemptique, Washi Tape from Bella Blvd and marker colors by Copic.

Challenge week at PaperCrafter's Corner

I'm proud to announce...

I'm proud to announce that I have been selected as part of the Webster's Pages Certified Educator Program.

In celebration here is a card that I made with Webster's Pages papers and embellishments! Man, I just love their ribbons!!

To make the flower, just punch out a circle in the size that you want your rose to be.  Cover it with adhesive.  I used my Glue Glider Pro with permanent adhesive.  Fold the pleated ribbon in half and start sticking down in the center the middle part of the ribbon where it's stitched and go round and round sticking it down until you cover the entire circle!

More to come about the classes that I will be teaching by being part of this program.  I am really excited about creating with Webster's Pages and bringing it to you!

Another Crafty Pursuit

Truly there aren't many crafts that I haven't tried.  Most I love and have done now and then throughout my life.  Sewing is one of those crafts. I've always loved sewing.  For me it's very satisfying to make things that I can use and most of the sewing projects that I have done I use a lot.  I used to make quilts, pillows and stuffed animals for my kids when they were young.  Lately my sewing machine has seen more paper than fabric but I decided to change that when I saw this cute little drawstring backpack pattern.

I made this backpack first.  My lovely daughter , Alexis, is modeling it for me.  It is really more of a child sized backpack so it looks a little small on her back.  The drawstring is on the top and also forns the shoulder straps.  There is a small zippered pocket on the front.

I had so much fun making the first one, I decided to make more in Auburn and Alabama colors.  I have a couple of friends with daughters that will look so cute using their backpacks to carry their things to the football games.

Here is Kate showing off her Auburn backpack.  As you can see the size of the backpack is much better on her.

I haven't yet delievered the Alabama one so Lexi is modeling it for me here.

I had so much fun with this little project I am planning on making more backpacks in various fabrics including the Auburn and Alabama colors and selling them in my Etsy store.  If you are interested in having one of your own before  I put them in my store or want something in specific colors please email me.  I can also adjust the size to fit an adult if needed.
