Simon Says Stamp Challenge Day- November Anything Goes

 

Each month Simon Says Stamp Challenge blog hosts a fun challenge called Anything Goes.  It occurs on the last Wednesday of each month and you can enter just about anything that you create. So what are you waiting for?  Join us!

This week the Simon Says Stamp Challenge team is using stamps from Unity or Lawn Fawn.  These stamps are not necessary for entering the challenge but if you have them we would love for you to play along with us. I used Unity's Itty Bitty stamp called Find The Joy.  It was so easy to color with my Copics.  If you are looking for a fast Christmas card stamp than you might want to check this one out.

I also used Nestabilities Labels 18 to cut out the image.  Then I used my little trick or tracing the outside of the edge of the Nestabilites on pattern paper and cutting it out by hand.  That way I get a nice sized mat for the image which really makes the image standout!  Then a couple of foam dots for dimension, a couple sheets of Echo Park Holly Jolly Christimas patterned paper and some Baker's twine from the Twinery and my card was finished.

Imaginisce Monthly Sketch Challenge- Fall

Love this sketch from the Imaginisce blog's Monthly Challenge.  I changed it up a bit to accomodate the pictures that I had.  I can certainly see myself using it again and again.  It's a fantastic sketch.

I have always loved these pictures of my daughter that I took one really pretty fall day.  I just recently realized that I lost the digital files from that day in a computer crash, so I wanted to scrap the remaining few that I had not scrapped already.  I happened to have two 4x6's so I rearranged the sketch on the left hand side a bit to make it work.  All I can say is back up your pictures and thank goodness I scrapbook!

I love the gloss on the Imaginsce paper.  It has such a nice texture to it but also it gives it a nice weight.  I was able to curl the leaves which gave it a nice 3D effect.  I also wanted to share how I made the circle border.  I actually cut and pieced it myself with two circle punches.  Along the edge of the orange paper I first punched a small half circle.  Then I took a slightly larger circle punch and punched around the negative space left on the paper.  Then I just adhered them on the paper and covered the raw edge with the picture.  I can see myself using this technique with larger punches in the future.

Simon Says Stamp Challenge Day- Tag It

It's a busy Wednesday around my house this week.  The rest of my family will be arriving to spend Thanksgiving with us and the cooking and baking is in full swing.  The house is full but so is my heart.  

So today I've got a quick post for the Simon Says Stamp Challenge this week.  It's called Tag It!  Just create either a tag or incorporate a tag in your card.  Simply and fun right?  I need to get started on my gift tags for this year so I created this little cutie.  I love the C.C. Designs stamps and this one, Sugarplum Christmas Emma, has always been a favorite.  

I colored Emma with Copic markers and cut her out and then mounted her with foam dots to the tag.  The scalloped border was cut with a Spellbinders border die using some Echo Park Holly Jolly patterned paper.

The large snowflake is from Ek Success and the baker's twine is from the Twinery.

10 Cards, 10 Tags Class

Many of my local scrapbook friends know that teaching scrapbook classes is a passion of mine!!  I love everything about it.  I love the friendships, crafts, and the look on someone's face when they learn something new!  Up until recently I taught all of my scrapbook classes at Scrapbook Mania which was the closest scrapbook store to my home.  Well Scrapbook Mania closed it's doors at the end of October and so now I am looking for ways to keep teaching and staying in touch with my local scrapbook friends.  

So....

this is what I am going to do, for now.  I will be holding a few classes in my home. I've had many a Stampin Up! class here so I figured why not try it.  The first one will be a Christmas card and tag class.  I am very excited about this class.  We will be using some of my most favorite Christmas paper this year, Season's Greetings from Echo Park.  You will make 10 cards and 10 tags.  You will get all of the materials that you need, except a couple of consumable supplies and tools, to make all of the cards and tags.

Simon Says Stamp Challenge Day- Thanks/Thanksgiving

Is everyone getting ready for Thanksgiving?  I am.  My menu is planned and my shopping list is done.  Right now I am working on decorations for my table.  I've got some cute paper baskets and placecards that I cutting out on my Cricut. I'll be sure to share when I am done.  

Well today is another wonderful Wednesday and that means another fantastic Simon Says Stamp Challenge.  This week we are challenging you to make a Thanksgiving/Thank You card.  The team is using Hero Arts stamps this week so we certainly encourage you to play along although it is not part of the challenge.

When I saw this challenge I just knew that I wanted to use the little Pilgrim boy in the Hero Arts Clear Stamps So Thankful set.  The leaves are also from that set.  The pumpkin came from another Hero Arts set called Season Of Giving.  I used my Copic markers to color in the stamped images and then created the card from paper called Finally Fall by Bella Blvd.

Here is a view of the dimension the foam dots give the card.  I love using them on all my paper crafts.  The pumpkin stamp was actually masked with the Pilgrim boy so they are together.  Masking if really fun and easier than you think.  Just stamp your front image on your card paper and then again on a piece of typing paper.  Cut out the image from the typing paper close to the edges and adhere loosely to the paper for your card.  Then stamp the second image on top where you want it placed and the typing paper takes the ink where the two images overlap.  It justs takes a couple of times doing it and you will be a pro I promise.  The clear stamps work really well because it makes it easier to see where you are staying the second image.  For other stamps, wood and cling, you will need to use a tool called a Stamp-a-ma-jig for placement.

Another closeup view of the main image.  I really dislike coloring anything black but I know to get better at it I need to practice so I took a stab at it again.  You can see the Hero Arts gems on the tree a little closer here too.  I thought that they were a fun addition to the tree to add some festivity and color.

Let It Snow- By LORi Designs Day

 Hello all!!  Thanks so much for stopping by.  I've got a gorgeous card to share with you today.  This little cutey is called Winter Ella and she has her little penguin pal with her.  The Puddle Jumper series from By LORi Designs are my favorite!!  I love their sweet smiles and that they are always paired with a pet.  

For my card I used Copics to color her and the new Jillibean Soup Christmas Eve Chowder paper.  I used the 6x6 paper pad which has the perfect sized patterns for cards.  Love that!!

Simon Says Stamp Challenge Day- Photo Inspiration

Simon Says Stamp Challenge blog's newest challenge is called Photo Inspiration.  This week we want to see what kinds of card you can make inspired by the photo of poppy fields below.  I chose to be inspired by the color scheme but you will see many others interpretations in the design teams cards on the Simon Says Stamp Challenge blog.

The Authentique Wonder Papers were the perfect red and green colors for my Christmas card.  I just got this wonderful new Glittering Tilda stamp from Simon Says Stamp and knew they were made for each other.  I colored Tilda with my Copics and then matted her on a scalloped rectangle mat that was cut from a Spellbinder die.  The other die I used is from Memory Box and it is called Savannah.  It is amazing.  I just got it from Simon Says Stamp and one other as well.  I am so please with the way it cut and the delicate twists and turns it has.  Simon Says Stamp carries all of the Memory Box dies so you might want to check them out.  Really pretty stuff!! 

You might have noticed the pretty poinsetta flower that I used.  These are from Petaloo and they are amazing.  So soft and velvety with just a hint of sparkle. The other flowers around it is a Petaloo flower as well.  The red cardstock stamp is from the Authentique Tabloids labels.  I pop dotted it for some dimension.

The sentiment is from Hero Arts and it is from a set called Holiday sayings.  I can tell you that this set is one that I will use over and over again.  So many great sayings in wonderful fonts and sizing perfectly for cards. 

 Here is a close up of Tilda.  I just love her braids reaching all the way to her feet. I also added a little bit of sparkle to the tinsel that she is holding with some Stickles.  Love the way it shines.

Snow Day- By LORi Designs Day

Is it getting cold where you live?  It started to get a little chilly here in Alabama last week but then warmed up a bit the last couple of days.  Most people think I am crazy but I really love the cold weather.  

Today my card is in celebration of my love of cold weather.  This cutie pie is all bundled up and ready for the snow to arrive.  This digital stamp from By LORi Designs is one of four new winter images that are available for purchase in her store.

 

 What I think is so cool about digital images is that you can move, copy and paste some of the elements.  On this card I took a couple of the snowflakes and pasted them around her head so that it looked like snow was falling all around her.

Simon Says Stamp Challenge Day- Buttons

 

 

Are you ready for another Simon Says Stamp Challenge?  Great!!  This week we are challenging you to create a card using buttons.  The team is also using Basic Grey paper or stamps so if you want to join us please do!!    

Here are a couple of details about my card. I was excited to use the new Basic Grey Nordic 6x6 paper pad.  The colors and patterns are fantastic.  I thought that Reindeer Tilda would be the perfect character to use with this paper.  So festive!!  I also used this week's sketch from Sketch Saturday so I will be entering my card in that challenge too.

I colored her with my Copics and cut her out.  Then I  punched a scalloped border for her to sit on and attached her with foam dots for dimension!!  The sentiment is from a new set from Hero Arts called Holiday Sayings.  It is loaded with different holiday sentiments that are the perfect size for cards.  I will probably never need another set again it is so versatile!!  I used a Martha Stewart punch for the holly and snowflakes and the Snowflakes Cuttlebug folder to add the texture behind Tilda.
