Simon Says Stamp Challenge Day- Punch Em' :-)

Turkey Day is coming soon.  It will be here before you know it.  This little card would make a great invitation to family or friends to come to your feast!  

I am highlighting Hero Arts this week for my Simon Says Challenge blog card.  This turkey comes from a wonderful new holiday set called, So Thankful.  Besides the cutest turkey in the world you get a pumpkin, boy and girl pilgrim, some great sentiments, and a few extras.  After I stamped the turkey three times across my paper, I colored my turkeys with Copic Markers. My new Tim Holtz Idea-ology 12 inch design ruler came in handy when I was trying to get the same amount of space between each of the turkeys.  The center measuring guide on this ruler made it so simple.

I also got out my Martha Stewart leaf border punch again for this card.  It has become one of my most favorite punches.  I also put some Petaloo brown glitter paper behind it as well.  Top it all off with paper called Tree Love from Nikki Sivils and you've got a super cute card.  I was also thinking that you could make some place cards in this same style too.

Today's News

Today I did a lot of  cleaning and reorganizing and creating.  Does anyone else have the problem of not being able to think straight when their creative space is a mess?  I had neglected it for over a week and it was chaos in my scrap room.  

So what was I working on?  I've been teaching a class at Scrapbook Mania called the Twelve Tags of Christmas My Style.  I love Tim Holtz and all of his products so each month I have created 4 original Christmas tags using Tim Holtz products.  I have been able to incorporate alcohol inks, distress inks, dies, grunge paper, and much more.  This weekend is the last of the 3 classes and I am so excited about sharing my last 4 tags.  Here is a sneak peek at one of the tags that we will be making.

Today though I wanted to let you know that my design team work for Nikki Sivils will be featured on her blog along with a couple of other talented ladies.  Please check the post out.  I created a double page layout and a card.  The layout that I made was based on a sketch by Allison Davis for Scrapbook Generations.  Nikki is doing a cross promotion with Scrapbook Generations and I was a lucky recipient of Volume 4. (Sorry about the tilt.  I have a hard time photographing double page layouts.)

Simon Says Stamp Challenge Day- Follow the Recipe

Welcome to a new Simon Says Stamp Challenge blog day!!  I had a fantastic time creating this card just for the Simon Says Stamp Challenge blog.  Each week the team issues a new challenge and a new winner is randomly picked to receive a $25 gift certificate to the Simon Says Stamp online store. The challenge this week was to follow a recipe.  Here is what you need to include on your card.

One, image, two pieces of patterned paper, and three embellishments.

For this challenge I created a shaker card.  I just got this wonderful stamp set from Hero Arts called Sending Holiday Cheer. I stamped and colored the image and then using my Nestabilities circle set, the largest die, I cut it out.  To make the shaker part of the card, I took my largest Nestabilities scalloped circle die and cut it out of red cardstock.  Then I put the second to smallest Nestabilities plain circle on it getting it even as best as I could and cut that out.  That left me with a "window" in my scalloped circle.  On the back of this I attached a piece of transparency.  

The next thing was to place Glue Dot pop up dots around the edge of the back of the scalloped circle.  This will create the space that is needed to let the glitter float around the shaker part.  Then I scooped up some chunky white glitter and sprinkled it on my image.  I took the red scalloped circle and place it on top of my image making sure to center it and press down on the pop dots so that there were no gaps where the glitter could fall out.

Then I put together my card pieces.  I used The Girls Paperie Tinsel and Twig patterned paper line.  I think that this is probably my most favorite Christmas paper line this year.  The patterns are adorable and it's just enough distressed to give it some character.  I also used the sticker book from this line as well for the sentiment.

The last supply I want to point out is the little black dots that I put on my scallops.  This is a new product from Ranger that I am flipping over!!  Move over Liquid Pearls, mama has a new "favorite" in town.  Right now I believe it only comes in black and white but I sure hope that they decide to add more colors.  It is called Enamel Accents Black White Opaque Dimensional Glaze.  It's hard to believe that those aren't really black pearls isn't it.  They are so perfectly round.  But they are not.  It is an enamel substance that I squeezed out of a bottle.  I was amazed at how easy it was to create those perfect little drops. I hadn't been very successful with Liquid Pearls, but I can tell you without a doubt that this product is easy to use and create perfect little domes of color just by squeezing the bottle.

Simon Says Stamp Challenge Day- Halloween

It's that spooky time of year and so our challenge this week at Simon Says Stamp Challenge blog is all about Halloween.  Wow, I can't believe how beautiful the teams creations are this week.  If you haven't seen them yet you should stop by here.

Another thing that the team is spotlighting this week is embossing folders.  These folders have become increasingly popular and for good reason.  They are so FUN!  There are so many different ways to use them. 

I just got this new Texture Fade from Tim Holtz and Sixxiz.  It's part of a two pack, Branch Tree & Tall Pines, and is new for the holiday season.  After I embossed my patterned paper, I ran my ink pad over the raised area and it outlined it and filled it in a bit.  I love using embossing folders like this.

The patterned paper that I used is a favorite of mine this year.  It is from Graphic 45 and called Halloween in Wonderland.

 

My image is a Magnolia stamp called Pumpkin Tilda.  I just love this stamp.  She is so cute and I added some Stickles to her dress and pumpkin to give it some extra sparkle. Stardust is my favorite clear colored Stickles.

World Card Making Day Card Class

Here is one of my cards that I created for my class at Scrapbook Mania on World Card Making Day.  I forgot to take pictures of the other two but I will and post them later.  I used some new JustRite Stampers on all three of my cards.  This set is my favorite I think.  I love the little images and there are so many things that you can do with them.  I think that I will make some Magnet Buttons for gifts and stocking stuffers this year.  The stamps are the perfect size.  Be sure to stop by Scrapbook Mania to pick up your own JustRite Stampers stamp sets.

The papers that I used were from The Girls Paperie.  I love their new Christmas line.  I am thinking of creating a mini book with it.  I also got some of the fun embellishments so I bet it will be really cute.

I also got this new stamp set from the same line.  I can't wait to ink it up!

 
 

Basic Grey Challenge Blog post- Sparkly

Wow, I really don't know what happened to my post so I apologize to anyone that came here looking for my card for the new challenge on the Basic Grey Challenge blog.  It was all set up.  I remember what I said and that I linked everything up and then went I looked at my blog today it was not there.  Strange.

So let's start anew, shall we?  

I am happy to announce that I will now be part of the Basic Grey Challenge team.  They had a design team call and I was one of the lucky girls chosen.  Yeah!!

Here is my first card as part of the design team, all sparkly and filled with Basic Grey goodness.  The paper that I used is from Basic Grey's Max and Whiskers line.  It was the perfect color scheme for my fall inspired card.  Did you know if you submit a card to this challenge you could win a $25 gift certificate to the online store Simon Says Stamp.  They have generously sponsored our challenge this week.

 

The stamp is Standing Fall Tilda which is a very favorite of mind.  I just love her sweater and matching hat.  The sparkly leaves and paper is from Petaloo.  The leaves are actually glitter covered foam die cuts.  The glitter paper is thin enough to be cut in my die cut machine and punches.  The leaf punch is from Martha Stewart.
