Wow, I had so much fun with the Simon Says Stamp Challenge this week. I don't use the paper piecing technique nearly enough. I love the detail that you can achieve with paper piecing. It really is very easy too. The hardest part is the cutting but if you pick a stamp that has larger areas it really isn't too bad.
Click on picture for a close up.
There is one tip that I would like to share with you when you are paper piecing. That is to apply Copic Markers just as you would normally to indicate shadows where appropriate. It really helps to define and shape the paper piecing.
Here is a little about my card. I used a lot of Magnolia stamps on my card. The beautiful little girl is called Princess. The banner and flowers are also Magnolia stamps. Simon Says Stamps carries a wide selection of these beautiful stamps so please stop by and check them out. I also used the 6x6 Basic Grey Cappella paper pad for her dress, paper piecing and card. If you are looking for pearls, Simon Says Stamps also carries a wide variety of them.
I really want to encourage you to enter our challenge on the Simon Says Challenge blog. There is a fantastic prize to be won and I know you will love playing with the paper piecing technique. If you are not sure how to do paper piecing, here are a few instructions. Stamp image on regular paper that you usually use for coloring. Then stamp the image again on the patterned paper that you would like to use. Cut out the pieces. It's best to cut right on the line. In my image I actually use two papers. One for the top part of the dress and another solid color for her skirt underneath. Apply the Copic markers really made the papers blend right into the rest of the colored image.
Please stop back by and leave a comment if you enter your paper pieced card. I would love to stop by and check it out.
