It's my favorite day of the week, Wednesday and the start of a new challenge on the Simon Says Stamp Challenge blog. This week we are challenging you to make a gift for someone. My answer to this challenge is a bookmark. I had so much fun trying new techniques on this bookmark. I actually hope to video tape some of these techniques soon. Stay tuned, because I will post them here when I get them taped and edited.
Here are some of the things that I did to create this bookmark. I used a lot of Tim Holtz alcohol and distress inks. For example, The metal piece at the top, which by the way is new hardware from Tim Holtz and can be found at Simon Says Stamp Online store, was a dull silver. I used the Alcohol inks, Metal Mixatives and Ginger to change the color to an antique gold. It was just an experiment but wow, it worked well!! I also applied that technique to the pearls as well.
The flower stamp is from Hero Arts. It is one of my favorite stamp sets. It contains numerous flower stamps, all distressed and different sizes. I painted it with Rock Candy Distress Paint and then distress it with the Mixatives. It's hard to see the beautiful cracks but they are there.
The stamped image is from a Tim Holtz clear stamp set from Stampers Anonymous called Flights of Fancy. It is a beautiful set with birds and flourishes and wonderful quotes.
The monogram letter is Tim Holtz grunge board, colored with distress inks and I used paper from Basic Grey Basics paper stamped with a Damask shape from Hero Arts Stamp set called Speckled Ornaments Damask Flourishes set in Antique Linen. Oh, I almost forgot to mention the ticket that says Story on it. Of course, another wonderful product by Tim Holtz Idea-ology called Adage Tickets. They are fun, they are crafty and they are the perfect final touch to this bookmark.
So now it is your turn. What gift will you make to enter the challenge? Don't forget, some lucky person will be the winner of a $25 gift certificate to Simon Says Stamps Online store. Simon Says Stamps even pays the shipping for you. So let's get crafting and see what you can make.
Thanks for stopping by!!

but there was also freshasdf kitchen waste mixed in with it and I wasn't about to try to strain that out so that I could get the two pints of compost out to throw under the roses. So I ordered a second composter thinking I would have one cooking older waste while I had another one to receive fresh waste.
for I know all to well that this season of her life will pass much to soon. Savor these sweet moments with your little one's- in a blink of an eye, they are all grown up.
