January Scrapbook Kit continued

Here is my last project using the materials in the January Scrapbook Mania scrapbook kit.  I used the remaining pieces in the kit to create a mini book.  I cut out the base with the Accucut and then embellished it with my left over Origin die cut cardstock tags and Origins rubons.  I created this book, not for pictures, but more as a journal to write down goals for the year.

 

I just love this cover.  I used one of the pieces in the Origins Die Cut Cardstock pieces. I think that this sentiment is absolutely perfect for the title of this mini book.   I adhered it to the green background circle and then onto the first chipboard page.

 

Action is my word for this year.  So far I feel like I am living true to my word.  I can't wait to see what I write on this page at the end of the year.
 

 

 

 

 

 

I also used the Basic Grey Origins rubons in green.  They are just beautiful.  Little gold gems were also included in the designs.

 

 

The little circle piece was made from a 7 gypsies stamp that was included in the kit.  There were 2 other designs that you could interchange on the self stamper as well.

Scrapbook Mania's January Scrapbook Kit

I just wanted to share some of the things that I made with this month's Scrapbook Kit from Scrapbook Mania.  The patterned papers were Origins from Basic Grey.  I really loved this line and found some perfect pictures to use with it.  I can't believe my little baby is all grown up.  These pictures remind me of my cute chunky toddler.  Now he won't let me tell him he is cute.  I have to say that he is handsome.  Oh my, they do grow up too fast.

Acrylic Mini Album featuring Cupid from Pink Paislee

I know that working with an acrylic album can be a little intimidating but hopefully I can give you some tips in the this post that will help you with your next acrylic album.

 

I cut out my title using vinyl.  The Silhouette cut all the details out so smoothly.  On the other side I applied adhesive behind the vinyl so my scalloped oval would stick but not adhesive would show through.
 

 

Here you can see that I cut out an picture to place on the other side of the scalloped oval shape.

 

One the rest of the pages I actually cut patterned paper for each page.  I used the same template just leaving the length longer on each successive page.  I cut the paper so that the scallops on the acrylic album were not covered retaining the look of the acrylic album but making it easier to hide all the adhesive.  I loved this quote.  I hid the adhesive on this underneath the gems and the button.

 

The blue heart paper is actually adhered to the page.  The above page show the back side of this double sided paper.  Using double sided paper is super handy when working with acrylic.

 

More vinyl and double sided patterned paper.  I attached it to the back side of the album just to give the front pages more of the look and feel of the acrylic style.  For the edge of this page I cut out a scalloped circle and then cut it to fit on the page.  That way the edge of my picture wasn't so noticeable.  Gems on the scallops was a nice extra touch.

 

Lots of scallops and gems.  I just love the look.  All of the materials used to decorate this album are from Pink Paislee's Cupid line.  

 

Almost the last page.  This time I cut out the vinyl and put it on the front of the page but picture on the back of the last acrylic page.

 

It's hard to tell but I sprayed some Smooch Spritz in Silver on the frame.  It helped it match with the glitter sticker letters.  Red letters from Making Memories and black letters from Pink Paislee.

Beautiful

I just love it when layouts seem to turn out just like you envisioned them.  I have been hoarding this paper, Narratives by Karen Russell for Creative Imaginations, for some time just waiting for the right picture, the right idea, the right inspiration.  The other day I looked at it again and it just hit me.  Cut out the flourish, flower design and pop it up over the picture.  I had this black and white 5x7 picture of my daughter and I really wanted to showcase her beauty in an elegant style.

 

Well it took a lot more cutting than I would have thought but I am so pleased with the result.  I also got to use some other fun products, like the 7 gypsies gaffer tape, that I have been holding onto for awhile.  I also had a little fun with my sewing machine, (the red scallops), my Silhouette (the wish ticket, title, and side flourish), and my Glitz stamps (text on wish ticket and side flourish).  The Glitz stamp really made the extra elements blend perfectly with the Creative Imaginations paper called Narratives by Karen Russell which makes up the bulk of the layout.  The title I cut out of red vinyl.  The font is pretty skinny and I was really impressed with the smooth cut that I got.

Sometimes You Do Get Lucky

Sometimes you do get lucky.  I did, for sure, last week when I received this fun prize package in the mail.  I was stunned to be picked the winner.  I was even more stunned when I took everything out of the box and saw the value of it.  I am one lucky girl!

 

Where and why did I win this?  Well I found out that they finally made Sure Cuts A Lot 2 in a Mac version.  I am a true Mac fan and I have been waiting forever for a program to come along that I can use on my Mac with my Cricut.  So when I found out that the program was ready for purchase I went straight to Canda Craft and bought it.  I had learned about Canda Crafts from Lauren Meader.  Lauren uses Sure Cuts A Lot with her Cricut to electronically cut out her new templates from My Time Made Easy, LLC and she recommends Canda Crafts as the place to buy the program.

Got Sketch #95 Layout

Oh, I just love working with sketches.  Especially Valerie Salmon's sketches.  I remember when I first started using sketches.  It was when I saw Becky Higgins's article in Creating Keepsakes.  It was then that I saw how beneficial that they were.  Then more recently I took Valerie's class Got Sketch 101 and really got into them big time.  I haven't skipped a class since.  Now it is one of the first things that I tell students to use in my beginner scrapbook classes.  Why make things harder and more mysterious than need be.

I was excited to be asked to create a layout with this weeks sketch on the Got Sketch blog.  Make sure to stop by the blog to see the original sketch.

 

These pictures are of Brett when he was about 10 months old.  I had started my photography business and I was practicing.  I'm so glad to have these pictures.  So cute.  I think every age is just adorable.  I can't believe he just turned 11.

I also wanted to share a couple of new cards from All That Scraps.  These are my cards for the third week of my guest design team month.  I am so grateful to have been picked for this wonderful honor.  C.C. Designs stamps have always been a favorite of mine and I have loved working with them this month.

Isn't this stamp just so adorable?  I just love these little fairies. This card was made with Chanter Heartsong stamp along with the sentiment from the  Valentine Critters set.

A Sweet Tilda Today and Bo Bunny giveaway

I had a lovely time today with the group of ladies that attended my Copic Class 1 and 2. They all did so well learning how to color and blend.  There was a lot of laughter and a lot of love for Copic markers.  Thanks ladies for taking my class. I hope we can get together again.

The following card is one that I worked on a couple of days ago.  I've actually had these two stamps for awhile and just hadn't broke them out.  These two stamps together create a very large image so I left the card design simple.  

 

I used a very difficult color palette on this card.  I used Basic Grey paper from Nook and Pantry and matched up the orange and peach colors but then I couldn't decide on a color for her overalls.  A blue jean color really wouldn't have matched well so I tried these sort of rust colors, E07, E09, and E19.

 

 
 
 A lot of hype about CHA is going on right now.  I so wish I was going but have other obligations.  Bo Bunny just revealed their CHA Winter releases and I am so excited.  Six new lines.  Wow, so much fun stuff to play with.  There is one line that really stole my heart and that was Jazmyne.  I just love the colors.

I need to catch up.  Do a few posts a night or something.  Even though I have a million thoughts running through my head, I rarely sit down and blog about them.  I prefer to create than write so I am always so tired when I finally stop creating and think about writing a post.  Well here are a few things that I have been doing.  

Here are two of my Bo Bunny projects.  I am just over the moon in love with their two Valentines lines, Love Bandit and Persuasion.  Persuasion is a little grungy than Love Bandit so they appeal to both sides of my creative self.  

Here is Persuasion.

 

This is one of my all time favorite pictures of Brett.  He had just started sitting up and loved to sit in the grass and pull it.  This was taken with my old film camera back when I was using color processed black and white film.  The pictures has this old time feel to it that was straight out of the camera.  I would never ever give up my digital camera but it is fun to see the pictures I took during the film camera days.

This box is made from one of the templates that I have by Lauren Meader for Papertrey Ink.  It's a great size to hold 4-5 3x3 cards.  The Love is cut out from my Cricut.

 
 I just love Bo Bunny's cardstock stickers.  They help you make cards quick.  For these 3x3 cards I just cut out scalloped squares with my Spellbinders dies using Bo Bunny's double dot cardstock in Ocean and then I stuck the square cardstock stickers on it.  A few pop dots on some more double dot cardstock in Blush and you are done.  These would be great for your kids to make for their friends.  Simple but oh so sweet.

January Card Kit

The January Card Kit at Scrapbook Mania is now available.  I was excited to include a brand new C.C. Designs stamps from All That Scraps in the kit this month.  It was perfect timing since I am the Guest Designer for them this month.  I love the Swiss Pixies and this little cutie just stole my heart.

 

The card is a gate fold style card.  If you pull on the stamped image and ribbon it will slide out and you can open the card.  I played around with this part for quite some time and even though it is not a very permanent solution to keeping the card closed easily, I thought it was kind of cool and different.  

You might also notice that I used some papers from The Love Bandit collection by Bo Bunny.  Love that I could put two of my most favorite things into my kit.  There may be a few left so be sure to call Scrapbook Mania if you would like to purchase one.  Inside the kit you will find a stamp, instructions and all the materials cut and ready to assemble for 2 cards.  The kits go fast and we only have a limited supply so if you would like one please make sure to ask to be on the next months list.
