Wow! and Thanks!

Wow, what a crazy last couple of days.  The big event at Scrap Etc. is done and I am throughly exhausted but at the same time I feel refreshed and renewed.  I had so much fun, met so many great people, and learned so many wonderful new things.  This event, for me, was definitely all that it was promised to be.  I felt so inspired by the stories that I heard and so motivated by the life lessons that I listened to.  I also feel as if I made some new connections in my life and some new friends as well. 

Thanks to Monique, Gila, Jeremiah, and Bruce for including me in this wonderful experience.  You all are great people and I am glad to know you and work with you all.  Thanks to all of the girls on the IT team!!!  Everyone of you has a heart of gold.  So giving of your passion, your knowledge and your time.  You are all unbelievable people and I am proud to call you friends.  Thanks to Heidi Swapp who after this weekend has given me the courage to become a better person, to embrace who I am, and to shoot for the moon.  Thanks to Cathy Zielske who has shared her humor and her love of life with me.  I will be forever greatful for your sincerity and including me in your circle of friends.  Thanks to Elsie Flannigan who has inspired me to add some whimsy to my life and my art.  Thanks to all of the women who attended the Scrap Etc. event!  I am so grateful for all of your smiles and words of thanks and praise.  You kept me going.  It was so good to meet so many new people and to see old faces again.  I had an absolute blast during this event with you all.  I seriously can't wait for next year!!!

   

It's almost here

The Scrap Etc event!!!  It's almost here!!!

We have been working and planning this for months now and tomorrow is registration day!  I can't wait for all the excitement to begin.  I was up all last night, tossing and turning, just thinking about all the fun that's in store.  I mean, how could you go wrong!   Heidi Swapp, Cathy Zielske, Elsie Flannigan and Carrie Colburn.   It doesn't get much bigger than this!!!  I will be the official photographer of the event so I will try to post some pictures of the event as it unfolds.  I can't wait to see all of the projects that everyone will be doing.  I know for a fact that everyone will be blown away by the things that Heidi has planned because I have seen, with my own eyes, all the supplies that she sent for the event.  Over generous is putting it mildly!!!  Well I hope you have your spot and I will see you there.  Have a great time and if you see me make sure to say hello!!!

Happy Easter

Happy Easter Everyone!  I hope you all have had a great day!  We enjoyed some family time today and had a great time finding Easter eggs, having a picnic lunch out at Oak Mountain State Park, and then a little swimming and sunbathing at the beach there.  It was nice just to get out in the sun and just relax.  Here are some Easter pictures.

I am so excited to share that I have started designing rubber stamps for Sue at Stamped In Ink.  Here is one of the sets.

This set was co-designed with Sue.  I just created the circle stamp.  Sue created the rest of the stamps. 

There is another set on the way that I am very excited about.  I can't spill the beans quite yet but stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.  This new alpha set will fit right it with some of the current scrapbooking trends. 

Please check out Sue's other stamps set at Stamped In Ink.  She has some wonderful unmounted alphabet stamp sets and has just started offering a few clear stamps sets. 

Well that's a first

I'm not sure if you any of you were following the weather news Friday or not but here in Alabama most people were.   We were expecting a rather bit of nasty weather on Friday.  They predicted it was going to be so bad that they actually closed school at 1:00.  That was actually pretty cool since I was subbing that day, but as we were leaving the skies were clear and very blue.  Well the afternoon went by and no thunderstorms to be seen in Birmingham but we did hear that Nashville was getting hit pretty hard.  I think there ended up being about 10 deaths from all of the tornadoes that developed in their area.  Thank god that things didn't get that bad here.  So here we are wondering what is going to happen with our weather.  We had a baseball game scheduled at 7:30p.m.  We kept checking to see if they were going to cancel or not.  As it turned out we ended up playing and it was a beautiful night.  Brett played really well and ended up getting the game ball.   So by the time we got home it was after 9:30 and we pretty much went to sleep soon after that.  During the night the storm came through and I guess I was so tired I slept right through it all.  Not too safe actually.  I was told that the tornado sirens were going off and that they wind was really bad.  Luckily no tornadoes came close to us but there were some in other parts of Birmingham. 

So I woke up in the morning, sat down at the computer and read some emails and such.  About a half and hour later I get up to get a drink, walk into the kitchen and look out one of the windows that faces our sideyard.  I see leaves.  Hmmm, why do I see leaves?  I don't normally see leaves out that window.  I go outside to see that a huge tree has fallen over.  This tree is about 60 feet tall and streches all the way across our yard into the street.  It totally smashed poor Brett's soccer goal.  We were so lucky that it didn't fall on our house. 

So we spent most of the day cutting up the tree into little pieces and hauling it to a pile near the road.  Whew... that was some work.  Thank goodness a neighbor came over with his chainsaw to help.  There would have been no way that we could have done the job without his help.

Okay, I know it

I'm bad.  Yes, very very bad at this blog thing.  I haven't posted in about a month.  No its not because there is nothing going on in my life but because they is always something going on.  I feel so bad.  I have had this on my to do list for weeks now.  Well here's an update.

Brett's playing baseball now.  He had his first official game last night but it got rained out.  He is playing either pitcher or outfield.  He really enjoys playing pitcher but as a mom I would rather see him in the outfield.  Those kids can really hit the ball hard and he is apt to get nailed on pitcher's mound.  He looks so cute in his uniform.  He is on the White Sox team and the black and white colors suit him.  I am going to try to take his picture soon. 

Alexis is working hard on her studying.  She is also very involved in her drawing and has started creating stories in cartoon form.  She just gets better everyday. 

I am not working at school very much right now.  I will be starting another long term sub position April 24th so I am just trying to get things done around the house before that starts.  I have also started running again.  I am up to about 4-5 miles per day.  It's been fun to see how much I can push myself. 

I am really looking forward to the Scrap Etc event on April 20-22.  It is going to be a blast.  Heidi Swapp, Cathy Zielske, Elsie Flannigan, and Carrie Colburn will be there.  These ladies are the ultimate in scrapbooking royalty and I am going to get to meet and work with them.  Yeah!!  This is totally going to be a blast.  If you are interested in more details and how you can go too, visit Monque's blog at www.scrapetc.net . 

Yeah, Steve just passed another insurance test.  Yeah, I am so proud of him and wheww, I am so glad it is over.  He won't take another one until October so we get a little reprieve of him studying.

Well I'm sure that there is more news but right now I have to get Brett ready for a baseball game.  I hope to post pictures sometime soon.
